Oh Lord, I'm so happy, I don't even know where to start! Ok... I am a victim of the 90's eyebrow trend, I had pencil thin eyebrows and I have thin hair so growing them back was out of the question. For years I've been trying different things to help grow my brows back, but I just got stuck drawing my brows for the next 19 years and I can never get them close enough. As years went by, my brows just kept getting thinner and thinner til I literally had just about a line of hair growing...that's it!
I never had really thick brows growing up but they fit me for what I was born within the trend in the 80's. It wasn't til 2006 I started to learn to apply makeup and use brow pencils to fill in my eyebrows and I got better as the years went by but I was nervous giving myself the full ombre eyebrows that are trending right now.As you can see, I always played it safe drawing on my eyebrows and even tho I used good products to make them stay all day, by night time, it was back to nothing like Cinderella's carriage turning back into a pumpkin. So I decided to get my eyebrows done this year when I got my income tax return, I spoke to my girl Kenzie K about it and she told me about Jazzy Jewels. Kenzie gets her hair and makeup done by Jewels for some of Kenzie's modeling events and big events including WiLD's Last Damn Show & WiLDSplash for 2017 and 2018. After seeing her work and being referred to by Kenzie, I immediately hit up Jewels to book my appointment and let me tell you I am so happy that I did!

She booked me at the new location 8370 W. Hillsborough (which is having their Grand Opening next month) which is closer to me and the place is so cute and Jazzy like her. I had a good feeling as soon as I walked in the door, I wasn't even a bit nervous, as picky as I have been with people when it comes to having beauty things done, even to get my hair cut I'm picky and will hold off for the longest.
So here is what my brows looked like, yes I know...horrible! What I love about the procedure was that she took her time, she asked what kind of brows I had in mind and I told her what I liked but it didn't mean it would look right on my face so I asked her what she thought. She suggested to start off smaller and if I wanted them bigger then I can always add to them which is smart because if I were to get them too big, you cant really take away from that. Next, we went thru color swatches, and last she measured out my brows and showed them to me to see if I liked what she did. At this point, I felt so ready to get these brows going and I can just say she had the slow jams going which made me feel even more comfortable. Now its time to start, on a scale from 1 to 10, the pain was at a 5, but there were some tender spots...Ouch! Look it was worth it so I didn't complain, I just focused on the music and thought about other things like what I'm going to look like from now on with my makeup on.
Now, typically it not supposed to look this red but because I have rosacea, my skin is always red and is very reactive to anything. Now look at those brows, aren't they beautiful? I am so happy with them. Each brow has their personality, I hate having identical brows, it makes your face look weird, no 2 sides of the face are the same but the brows are definitely sisters.
Update: This is what my brows looked like after just 3 hours of getting them done. Jewels said that it will look darker and even darker the second day, but by the end of the 10-day healing process, it will be lighter and the lines will spread... See how informative Jewels is, you gotta love her.
Microblading VS Tattoo
Why microblade over tattoo eyebrows? Well for one, microblade makes the brow look more natural and getting the touch-ups on time helps the brows last longer and prevent fading. The other important key factor is that with microblading, your brow shape can be adjusted to our face shape as we age, our faces take change so having the same eyebrow from 15-20 years ago is not going to look good. Unlike a tattoo, it might be permanent, but that's the problem, permanent means un-natural looking and no room to adjust the shape to the brow when needed and when it fades during the years, it turns this ugly green color.
Microblade those eyebrows, even if you have eyebrows with a few gaps, go get them done and get the touch-ups because maintenance is everything!
